About the role
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Mass Spectrometry Service Specialist to join our team. This role offers opportunities to work hands-on with advanced scientific instruments, provide technical training, and support customers and field personnel.
Responsibilities
- Perform repair, maintenance, and installation of instruments at customer sites.
- Provide technical training to customers and internal teams.
- Accurately document repairs, failures, and maintenance procedures, making recommendations for product improvements.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
- Manage repair parts inventory in accordance with company guidelines.
- Provide remote technical support via phone and email to assist customers and field personnel.
- Assist with the repair of instruments returned to the Corporate Service Center.
- Collaborate with senior service personnel for continuous technical development.
- Travel as required to support customers and internal teams.
- Submit accurate and timely reports and documentation.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology, or a related field required; Bachelors preferred.
- At least three years of hands-on experience in Mass Spectrometry instrument repair, field service, or a similar technical role.
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills with electronic instruments, particularly in Mass Spectrometry systems.
- Technical proficiency in diagnostics, maintenance, and installations, with a problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and professionally.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites to provide expert service, installations, and training.
Pay
The starting salary range for this role is $93,000 to $96,500 annually, paid semi-monthly.
Schedule
This full-time, non-exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package including 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 paid scheduled holidays, and 3 paid floating holidays (California residents receive state-mandated sick leave instead of personal days).
