Marvin's Moncks Corner - Rental Specialist - Part-Time

About the role

This position is in the Tool Rental Department. Experience working with Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) rental equipment and/or as a mechanic in the OPE area is required, including familiarity with brands such as Stihl and Husqvarna. The role is an hourly, non‑exempt position; successful associates may be considered for other opportunities within the company, though there is no guarantee of career progression.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by listening to customers, helping them identify and clarify needs, and offering accurate information and product recommendations.
• Smile and greet all customers entering the department or within normal speaking distance, using an open‑ended question such as “How may I assist you today?” or “What can I help you find today?”
• Listen intently to customer needs and direct them to appropriate products.
• Build customer confidence through product knowledge and technical assistance regarding selection, use, and installation of Marvin's products.
• Perform sales counter functions: POS, Total Rental, order entry, special orders, rental contracts, warranty contracts, and price lookup.
• Accept and respond to telephone inquiries politely, providing the requested information.
• Merchandise products on shelves or fixtures according to corporate or plan‑o‑gram guidelines.
• Make new product recommendations to store management based on customer feedback.
• Write sales and special orders using Marvin's point‑of‑sale systems to ensure accurate processing by suppliers.
• Assist in cycle counting of inventory per management schedule.
• Stock shelves with incoming product as needed.
• Sign and merchandise product in the store as necessary.
• Face and front product at the beginning and end of each shift, and when time permits.
• Notify regular customers about new products and upcoming store promotions.
• Maintain a clean and organized sales counter and selling area to avoid negative perceptions of the store.
• Assist customers with loading purchased items when required.
• Use Marvin's Resource Center to report items with incorrect retail prices, scanning issues, or incorrect descriptions.
• Possess working knowledge of company and store security measures; recognize shoplifting or fraud techniques and report suspicious activity to management.
• Follow company safety guidelines and basic safety practices at all times.
• Participate in regular store safety meetings.
