About the role
A Cashier Associate provides aggressive customer service by greeting customers as they enter the store and ensuring timely, accurate processing of customer transactions. This role is often the first and last point of contact for customers, requiring a friendly and welcoming demeanor. In addition to cashier duties, the position includes training, maintenance, and stocking responsibilities similar to those of a CNRG’s Team Player.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process customer transactions (credit cards, cash, checks, etc.) in an orderly, timely, and friendly manner.
- Greet customers as they enter and exit the store to create a lasting impression of friendliness.
- Verify merchandise quantities, descriptions, and prices to ensure transaction accuracy.
- Handle returns, exchanges, and sales of merchandise.
- Answer incoming phone calls promptly, efficiently, and courteously.
- Receive payments on commercial accounts, process C.O.D. tickets, and assist with credit application completion.
- Complete and file due tickets for later pick-ups and rain checks for out-of-stock items.
- Accurately count tenders, prepare deposits, and organize the cash drawer for the following day.
- Utilize credit and check verification systems according to company policy.
- Manage daily paperwork, including reports, currency, and documentation.
- Direct customers to items in the store and call for assistance from other team members when needed.
- Maintain responsibility for cash and controls to protect company assets.
- Follow all cashier procedures and accurately distinguish between similar products.
- Help keep the store clean and perform other tasks as assigned by store management.
Requirements
- Consistently demonstrate CNRG’s Mission and Values.
- Good oral and written communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and associates.
- Customer service-oriented and team-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to handle large or odd-shaped items and stock items in overhead areas.
- Accurately count and distinguish denominations of money.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge.
- Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
This is an hourly position with no guaranteed career progression, though internal candidates with experience may be considered for other opportunities.
