About the role
This position is under the general direction of the Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker. The Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) works in Medical Services, Integrated Care & Complex Patient Populations Division. The MFT diagnoses and treats mental and emotional disorders within the context of marriage, couples, and family systems, according to applicable Business and Professions Code(s), and holds a license.
Responsibilities
Incumbents shall refer incarcerated patients to other licensed health care professionals in accordance with standardized procedures. Travel to other CDCR adult institutions may be required.
Requirements
Under the supervision of the Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker, the MFT provides therapy to inmates within the context of marriage, couples, and family systems. The MFT must possess a current/valid license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science.
Qualifications
While not a Classification Specification, the MFT position requires possession of a valid Associate Marriage & Family Therapist license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science.
