Marketing Manager, Brand & Content
NextSense is a Google X spinout democratizing access to brain health through proprietary biosensing technology. NextSense recently launched Smartbuds, advanced neurotech disguised as a premium consumer earbud. Using EEG sensors and motion tracking, Smartbuds measure what your brain is doing in real time, then deliver precisely timed, brain-responsive audio to guide it back into rhythm—for deeper sleep, sharper focus, and effortless relaxation. We believe the brain is the next frontier in wellbeing, and that closing the gap between what your brain is doing and what your day demands—in a form factor people already live in—can help them live with more joy, energy, and purpose.
About the role
You are a marketing generalist with impeccable writing skills (maybe you were a writer in a past life?) and, ideally, experience at health technology and/or startups. This role reports to the VP of Marketing on a small team. While brand and editorial polish is your bread and butter, you likely have other skills and are eager to learn new ones.
Responsibilities
- Own brand and messaging consistency. You'll own the quality and consistency of our brand across every channel. Sometimes this means creating assets yourself; other times, editing or advising our agencies. You'll ensure everything NextSense puts out sounds like NextSense and says the right thing.
- Write. Landing pages, email campaigns, product copy, App Store listings, support content. You must be able to write great copy and upgrade mediocre copy others have written—without relying on AI (though you’ll be encouraged to use AI where appropriate).
- Represent the brand to our agencies and partners. We work with outside teams on paid media, creative, PR, SEO, and UGC. You'll brief them, review their work, and hold the line when it drifts off-brand.
- Update our site. Our storefront is on Shopify. You'll own content day-to-day: product pages, blog posts, hero sections, campaign landing pages—no waiting on engineering to change a headline.
- Be an eager generalist on the team. Keep trackers current, pull performance numbers from Shopify, Klaviyo, and ad platforms, coordinate vendors, chase assets, build decks, and take on whatever the quarter demands. This is a real portion of the job and the fastest way to grow here.
Requirements
- Roughly 3–6 years of relevant experience—marketing, content, editorial, journalism, science communication, agency, comms, or something adjacent we haven't thought of.
- Maintain deep attention to detail (this is critical for the role).
- Can point to writing you're proud of in at least two very different formats.
- Have a point of view about voice and tone, and can articulate why something is off-brand rather than just that it is.
- Have a sense of humor.
- Have edited AI-written content without frustration.
- Can work autonomously and proactively.
Nice to have
- Real Shopify depth (A/B testing, CRO, etc.).
- Hands-on experience in Klaviyo, Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, or GA4.
- Health, science, or wellness experience.
- Familiarity with SEO and AI-search visibility.
We care much more about how you think than any one particular skill. If you want to proactively solve problems and take on responsibilities beyond your job description as the company grows, that counts for more with us than five years of doing exactly this somewhere that looks like us.
Pay
$70,000–$100,000 DOE plus benefits.
Schedule
On-site, Mountain View CA. For exceptionally exceptional candidates, we may consider remote.
