About the role
The Open Compute Project (OCP) is seeking a proactive, collaborative and detail-oriented person who can support the Foundation and Community in a wide range of marketing and event activities to further the mission of providing a safe environment by which engineers can come together to solve changes and drive innovation forward. This person will serve a dual role in Events and Marketing & Communications.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with owned and third party event planning, including booth preparation, speaker management, securing marketing materials needed and follow up after the event
- Drive attendance at events
- Create materials and generate demand for sponsorships
- Support member partner events & OCP hosted events where needed
- Manage the Media & Analyst Pre-Brief Webinars
- See our Upcoming Events
- Create social media content placements, as well as tracking and analytics
- Moderation of social media accounts for comments and questions posed by the Community
- Assist with Newsletter content creation, as well as segmented, dedicated email blasts that target event attendees and sponsors
- Assist with content management and marketing strategies to continue to drive growth of the brand
- Assist with relationship development and story pitching for the media and analyst communities
- Help create news from ongoing contributions, new members and other timely announcements
- Support member press releases
- Assist with updating and refreshing website content
- Help with the communication and moderation around the creation of more formalized regional communities, especially in Asia
- Assist with Advisory Board quarterly meetings and communications
- Work with partners and other non-profits in collaboration to support shared goals
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in advertising, marketing, public relations, communications, event management, hospitality, tourism or related field, with a minimum of 5 years' experience. An advanced degree can substitute for experience
- Proficiency with Salesforce or other CRM platforms, and experience utilizing member engagement platforms (e.g., Moxo, Hubspot)
- Strong organizational, collaboration, communication, prioritization, planning & execution skills
- Experience in working with different global geographies and ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
- Experience with Microsoft office, Google Workspace (G-Suite), productivity tools, and basic cloud-based platforms
- Ability to prioritize multiple support requests and respond in a timely, helpful manner
- Basic skills in graphic design and image creation and management

- Experience in the data center industry
- Experience in intellectual property, administration & compliance
- Experience in growing community engagement & membership
- Persuasive & passionate communication skills in all types of media
- Strong advocate for open-source hardware technologies
- Ability to be on the leading-edge of industry technology trends and relevant technologies applicable to OCP at a high level
- Ability to connect & collaborate well with all levels of an organization … from working with individual contributors, collaborating with a team, to project volunteers, to the executives of member companies
- Comfortable communicating complex, technical information to non-technical audiences

Schedule & Location
- Full-time position
- Remote workforce – candidate should reside in North America
- ~15-20% travel, some international, will be required for this role for attendance at our OCP Summits and partner events
