Marketing Backend Developer
About The Role
We’re looking for a Marketing Backend Developer to join our Demand Generation team and help power the backend infrastructure behind our customer-facing websites and Marketing Operations systems. This role is a great fit for a developer with solid backend fundamentals, hands-on experience with cloud and API-based architectures, and a desire to keep growing technically while partnering closely with marketing and web teams.
What You'll Do
- Develop, maintain, and support backend services and APIs that power customer-facing websites and marketing platforms.
- Build and maintain integrations between Marketing Operations systems (e.g., Marketo, Salesforce) to ensure reliable data flow and workflow automation.
- Contribute to database design and maintenance to support marketing and customer data needs, with a focus on reliability and performance.
- Build and maintain APIs and services that integrate with third-party platforms and internal tools.
- Optimize backend code and processes for performance, scalability, and stability.
- Collaborate with front-end developers, designers, and marketing stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital experiences.
- Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues, escalating complex problems when needed.
- Write and maintain clear technical documentation for systems, integrations, and processes.
- Communicate progress, risks, and status updates to relevant stakeholders.
About You
- 1–3 years of experience developing and supporting backend systems, APIs, or services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Working knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure, preferably AWS (e.g., Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and similar services).
- Experience building or maintaining server-side APIs using Ruby, Python (Django, Flask), Node.js, or similar backend technologies.
- Familiarity with marketing technology stacks and integrations (e.g., CRM, marketing automation platforms) is a strong plus.
- Exposure to modern web architectures such as composable or JAMStack environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve workflows, enhance decision-making, or drive innovation.
Nice To Have
- Experience supporting or integrating with Marketo, Salesforce, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., CloudFormation, SAM, or Terraform).
- Experience working on customer-facing web platforms in a marketing or SaaS environment.
- Experience with Google Tag Manager, Contentful, or Netlify.
- Familiarity with core front-end development concepts, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and component-based architectures.
- Experience working with a modern JavaScript framework (e.g., Astro, React, Vue, Svelte, or Next.js).
- Exposure to modern web build tools and workflows (e.g., Vite, bundlers, static site generation, or JAMStack patterns).
Additional Information
The annual salary range for this position is $82,000 to $105,000. The salary range for performing this role outside of the US / Austin / California may differ. 8am is committed to offering competitive, fair and commensurate compensation and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and education.
