About the role

The Marketing and Business Development Assistant supports the Marketing and Business Development team and assists lawyers with activities to generate new client relationships, expand existing client relationships, and strengthen the Firm’s brand in the marketplace. This role is integral to the day-to-day operations of the Marketing and Business Development function, providing high-level administrative and operational support to the leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the creation, development, and distribution of thought leadership, including client alerts, practice updates, and other communications, in compliance with firm policies and brand standards.
  • Formats presentations, pitch materials, advertisements, and other marketing-related content, including proofreading and ensuring compliance with firm brand and style guidelines.
  • Conducts market analysis and competitive intelligence research in support of business development opportunities, and prepares backgrounders/briefings on clients, prospects, competitors, and market trends.
  • Supports and tracks third-party directory submissions, league tables, and awards and rankings submissions (including Chambers and similar directories), ensuring accurate tracking of matters and timely completion.
  • Maintains tracking systems for deal activity and other business development initiatives, ensuring data integrity and organized recordkeeping.
  • Updates and maintains marketing databases, repositories, and contact management systems, including supporting CRM data entry and maintenance as needed.
  • Curates attorney and firm client lists and contacts, runs client queries to provide insights and reporting, and monitors client matters on behalf of attorneys.
  • Collaborates with other departments as needed and provides additional administrative support for internal initiatives and special projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • The candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or related field and 1 year of experience in Marketing and Business Development, preferably in a professional services or law firm environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong research, written, and verbal communication skills, with a proactive, professional approach, are essential.
  • Client service-oriented, with the ability to cultivate relationships across the Firm and understand the Firm’s culture.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills are expected, with the ability to execute in a detail-oriented work environment.
  • Excellent multitasking, analytical, communication, and organizational skills; must be able to take ideas from inception and carry them through delivery; ability to draw conclusions from data and perform fact-checking.
  • Flexibility to work beyond normal business hours when required to meet deadlines is necessary.
  • Enthusiastic “can-do” approach; dependable team player who can work collaboratively with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff, and outside vendors/contacts, with integrity and confidentiality.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using InDesign and Adobe applications.
  • Experience with CRM systems, document management systems, and relational databases.
  • Proficiency with AI-driven tools, marketing automation, and analytical tools.
  • Committed to following all Firm security protocols and maintaining information security.
