Job Summary

As a Market Purchasing Manager, you will manage subcontractor and supplier relationships to support the organization’s growth. You will negotiate contracts and manage costs for materials and labor. The most rewarding aspect is ensuring production teams have the necessary vendors and suppliers to exceed goals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost analyses on new and existing products and/or labor to inform decisions on new products or price increases.
  • Develop inflationary reports forecasting inflation percentages.
  • Manage local supplier and trade partner sign-ups and pricing, including targeted recruitment for construction needs.
  • Act as Category Captain for assigned categories of spend across all markets, managing relationships, negotiating prices, and overseeing categories.
  • Create and complete Variance Purchase Orders, Job Start PO's, plans, and selections accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Analyze VPOs to identify root causes of issues and implement countermeasures to prevent recurring problems in pricing and contract interpretation.
  • Track trade partner capacity against production schedules to ensure adequate capacity is available for construction plans.
  • Communicate with trade partners about reliability, capacity, communication, and payment status or issues.
  • Work with internal teams to create, update, and improve vendor standards and scopes of work.
  • Improve retention and growth opportunities for core subcontractors and suppliers meeting or exceeding performance expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or finance (preferred)
  • At least 5 years of experience in purchasing and supply chain management in the construction industry
