The Market Intelligence Analyst is a key member of the firm's competitive intelligence function, supporting Marketing & Business Development as part of the Data & AI team. This role delivers actionable market, client, and competitive intelligence that informs strategic decision-making, strengthens the firm's market position, and supports business development and client growth. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical, research, and communication skills to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that influence business strategy. Duties And Responsibilities Conduct in-depth research and analysis related to clients, prospects, industries, competitors, markets, and emerging legal trends.Deliver actionable intelligence to support pitches, RFPs, client meetings, strategic planning initiatives, lateral integration, and cross-selling opportunities.Monitor legal industry developments, including competitor activity, mergers, and market positioning.Produce executive-ready briefings, company and individual profiles, benchmarking, and industry/regional studies tailored to lawyers and BD leadership.Own and streamline cross practice Thought Leadership competitive intelligence alerts and analyses using AI tools.Develop and deploy improved competitive intelligence processes using custom AI solutions for practice specific Thought Leadership in conjunction with the Market Intelligence Manager.Monitor and report on significant deal activity across industries using proprietary databases and AI tools.Ensure consistent, timely, and high-quality deliverables across all research assignments and intelligence products.Collaborate with the Library, Client Intelligence, Strategic Planning, and other business services teams as needed.Build relationships across both the Marketing & Business Development and Data & AI teams to identify BD needs and build solutions. Required Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or universityA minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in competitive intelligence, market research, business research, or a related fieldAbility to work proactively and independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating a high degree of autonomy and personal accountabilityDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and prioritiesStrong client service orientation, consistently producing high-quality work, proactively managing expectations, and identifying opportunities for process improvementExtensive skills with MS Excel and PowerPoint for use in analyzing and presenting dataExcellent verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization Preferred Advanced degree in business, law, library sciences, or related fieldExperience with marketing and/or business development function in a law firm or professional services firm or market intelligence/research agencyExperience engaging with multiple stakeholders at a law firmExperience with PitchBook, S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg Law, Mergermarket, and other market intelligence tools Other Skills And Abilities The following will also be required of the successful candidate: Strong organizational skillsStrong attention to detailGood judgmentStrong interpersonal communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAble to work harmoniously and effectively with othersAble to preserve confidentiality and exercise discretionAble to work under pressure The Target Salary Range For This Role Is $73,800 - $94,100 if located in Illinois. Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
