About the Role

Marine Solutions is a specialized marine engineering and construction firm serving clients in government, transportation, energy, industrial, water, and commercial markets. We inspect, design, and build bridges and waterfront infrastructure worldwide. This position is based in our Malvern, Pennsylvania office.

Summary of Position

The Marine Structural Engineer has responsibility and accountability for coordination and completion of assigned technical activities on assigned projects. This includes planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating assigned engineering work; monitoring work for compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and internal procedures and standards; and ensuring effective communication and coordination between required disciplines and other project participants.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and/or performs the preparation of comprehensive engineering documents including inspection reports, design plans, and specifications.
  • Directs and/or performs complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.
  • Directs and supervises the work of project engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
  • Actively participates in internal and external project meetings and works to actively resolve project issues.
  • Assists with project planning, scheduling, forecasting, and quality.
  • Assists with client management, proposal preparation, project scooping, and estimating project costs.
  • Actively promotes a safe work culture.
  • Directs and/or performs field inspections and evaluation of structures in compliance with established procedures and standards.
  • Directs and/or performs testing of materials, interprets test results, and incorporates results into reports to ensure project specification compliance.

Qualifications

  • Good technical knowledge, experience, and capabilities in area of practice.
  • Good proficiency in computer-assisted engineering and office software and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
  • Ability to define problems, collect/interpret data, evaluate facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in civil, structural or ocean engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience.

Minimum Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Valid US Driver's License.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
  • May be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While in the field, may be required to walk in rugged conditions, work in adverse weather conditions, and stand up to eight hours or more at a time.

Pay

The annual pay range for positions in Pennsylvania is $107,000 to $119,000 a year, depending on education and relevant experience.
