The role
- Monitor and inspect shipbuilding processes, including hull fabrication, machinery installation, and outfitting.
- Review and approve construction procedures and specifications for compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
- Conduct progressive inspections during construction phases and attend sea trials.
- Perform condition assessments, damage surveys, and compliance inspections on in-service vessels.
- Evaluate structural integrity, machinery performance, and safety systems.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and recommend corrective actions or repairs.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to IMO conventions, flag state regulations, and classification society standards.
- Liaise with shipowners, operators, and regulatory authorities to resolve compliance issues.
Technical Support & Advisory
- Provide specialised guidance on marine engineering, hull structures, and safety systems
- Support risk assessments and incident investigations.
- A degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field.
- Extensive professional experience in marine surveying, including new construction and operational vessels
- A customer experience focused mindset
- An in-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations and classification society rule
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- Solid communication and stakeholder management abilities.
