Marine Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate structural components, interior arrangements, deck hardware, machinery installations, and other vessel features while considering manufacturability, serviceability, and aesthetics.
• Collaborate with naval architects, systems engineers, production personnel, and suppliers to develop practical, high-quality design solutions.
• Generate and maintain engineering documentation including 3D models, construction drawings, fabrication details, installation drawings, BOMs, and engineering change documentation.
• Cook up with suppliers to specify materials and components, verify fit and function, and support sourcing activities.
• Support prototype builds, production, commissioning, and service by resolving design issues and implementing continuous product improvements.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to the ongoing refinement of Hinckley's product designs, engineering standards, and development processes.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of related engineering or marine design experience.
• Proficiency in Rhino 3D and AutoCAD 2D required; experience with additional 3D CAD platforms is a plus.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing methods, and drafting standards.
• Familiarity with marine construction methods, composite structures, or yacht design preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
• Associate degree or certificate in engineering, marine technology, drafting/design, or a related field required.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline is preferred.
