Responsibilities
- Design and integrate structural components, interior arrangements, deck hardware, machinery installations, and other vessel features while considering manufacturability, serviceability, and aesthetics.
- Collaborate with naval architects, systems engineers, production personnel, and suppliers to develop practical, high-quality design solutions.
- Generate and maintain engineering documentation including 3D models, construction drawings, fabrication details, installation drawings, BOMs, and engineering change documentation.
- Cook up with suppliers to specify materials and components, verify fit and function, and support sourcing activities.
- Support prototype builds, production, commissioning, and service by resolving design issues and implementing continuous product improvements.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to the ongoing refinement of Hinckley's product designs, engineering standards, and development processes.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of related engineering or marine design experience.
- Proficiency in Rhino 3D and AutoCAD 2D required; experience with additional 3D CAD platforms is a plus.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing methods, and drafting standards.
- Familiarity with marine construction methods, composite structures, or yacht design preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
- Associate degree or certificate in engineering, marine technology, drafting/design, or a related field required.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline is preferred.
