Marine Alignment Technician

Responsibilities

• Aid in machinery alignment, equipment mounting, foundation verification, and installation quality assessments.
• Perform equipment inspections, startup activities, functional testing, and operational verification during vessel construction and commissioning.
• Participate in vessel activation, dock trials, sea trials, customer demonstrations, and operational readiness events.
• Collaborate with production, commissioning, engineering, and maritime operations teams to support vessel readiness and delivery schedules.
• Support root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions to enhance alignment reliability and manufacturability.
• Maintain accurate commissioning records, test reports, alignment documentation, and operational logs.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives focusing on vessel quality, integration efficiency, and operational performance.
• Comply with shipyard safety procedures, quality standards, and maritime operational requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, technical school certification, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in shipbuilding, vessel maintenance, marine operations, industrial equipment installation, commissioning, manufacturing, or related technical fields.
• Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, propulsion, networking, or automation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, installation procedures, and test documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and hands-on problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work onboard vessels, in fabrication facilities, around heavy equipment, and in waterfront environments.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.
• Willingness to travel in support of vessel testing, demonstrations, customer support, and operational deployments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Marine propulsion, shaft alignment, rotating equipment, or machinery installation experience.
• Experience with laser alignment tools, surveying equipment, metrology systems, or precision measurement equipment.
• Experience supporting customer acceptance testing or operational readiness activities.
• Familiarity with aluminum vessel construction, modular assembly, or advanced manufacturing environments.
