Manufacturing Utility Operator - 1st shift

About the role
This employee is primarily responsible for ensuring production work centers have all necessary materials and supplies at the right time and place, thereby preventing workflow disruptions and increasing machine uptime. Materials and supplies may include cut cores, packing materials, blade replacements, printing job supplies, and others required for completing each work order.
Responsibilities

- Read and comprehend the requirements of work orders
- Escalate operational issues or concerns regarding safety, quality, delivery, or productivity
- Safely operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, material carts, and (if applicable) fork trucks
- Support creation and refinement of standard work, and participate in cost-reduction initiatives
- Deliver materials (non-raw goods), fixtures, and tooling to assigned work centers
- Remove finished goods, empty containers, and scrap from workstations to maintain order
- Safely operate the core cutting machine and/or circular saw to provide correct sizes and quantities of cores for multiple work orders across shifts
- Verify that WIP (work in process) cores are the correct length, diameter, and thickness
- Assist with preparing, cleaning, repairing, and storing Universal stenciling systems
- Prepare blade holders and distribute them according to work order requirements
- Replace wrapping material for L-Sealer as required
- Provide materials for work orders, including tape, staples, and other supplies
- Communicate necessary information to the appropriate shift/department to ensure effective operations
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety guidelines
- Wear PPE applicable to the job and maintain constant alertness
- Perform other additional duties as assigned, provided necessary training requirements have been completed
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with experience working in a manufacturing setting is preferred
- Knowledge of Oxco’s production equipment and processes is highly preferable

- Thorough understanding of basic measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers
- Mathematical reasoning – ability to perform mathematical and measurement conversions, knowledge of common units for textiles
- High attention to detail – ability to identify errors and inconsistencies
- Problem-solving – work independently and with others to resolve issues
- Collaboration – work effectively with operators, material handlers, and other personnel
- Communication – excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Multi-tasking – ability to manage and complete multiple tasks with deadlines
