Manufacturing Test Development Engineer

About the role

Sustaining Test Development Engineer responsible for developing, supporting, troubleshooting, and improving manufacturing test systems for electro-mechanical sub-assemblies such as PCBAs, sensors, and vision systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate automated test sequences and fixtures to ensure product quality and test coverage.
• Maintain and optimize automated test systems using frameworks like NI TestStand and LabVIEW.
• Analyze yield, reliability, and coverage metrics to identify failures and implement root cause and corrective actions.
• Manage escalated incidents, define test strategies, and establish acceptance criteria for robust testing.
• Document procedures, perform test script updates, and propose engineering changes to improve manufacturability and testability.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians in test automation and fault isolation.
• Support global manufacturing sites through troubleshooting, calibration, and retrofitting, with travel as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in robotics, electrical, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years in manufacturing test engineering or automated test support in high-volume environments.
• Experience with automated test frameworks, troubleshooting electro-mechanical assemblies, and root cause analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills, technical documentation, and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Master’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on testing of PCBAs, familiarity with AI/ML for test optimization, programming in Python, and industry-standard quality tools.
• Experience working with vendors and international manufacturing sites.
