Manufacturing Technician (OVERNIGHT SHIFT)

Axalta Coating Systems, a leader in coatings technology, is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for an overnight shift in Chillicothe, OH.

About the role

Run all required equipment in a safe and efficient manner, maintain housekeeping, and perform a variety of production duties in a coatings manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate pumps, agitators, shakers, scales, and viscosity measurement equipment
• Perform daily scale calibrations
• Wash equipment (tanks, pumps, piping, and loading equipment)
• Load (charge) tanks ranging from 5 to 500-gallon capacity
• Move and lift gallon stock, drums, and totes
• Follow established process instructions and documentation, including monitoring equipment
• Filter product (load/charge FSI filter and traps)
• Label containers according to process, customer, and DOT requirements
• Participate in area cleanup and housekeeping
• Conduct audits
• Perform selective maintenance tasks and equipment switch-outs to keep processes running
• Operate computer-controlled equipment
• Follow all site and area guidelines, including fire watch, break/lunch schedules, and work availability
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all job functions
• Assist in training other employees

Requirements

• High school diploma (required)
• 40-hour work week with occasional weekday and weekend overtime
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, percentages, and bar graph interpretation
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagram-based instructions
• Capability to learn quickly and work in a self-directed team environment
• Comfortable working with hazardous materials while using proper PPE (gloves, masks, glasses, safety shoes, protective suits, etc.)
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand for 8 hours per day
• Ability to repetitively climb ladders/stairs, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulders, and turn wrench/valve handles

Preferred Skills

• Experience dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
• Previous manufacturing experience
• Experience operating lift trucks/material handling equipment
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees

Pay

$23–$24 per hour with a $1.79 shift differential.

Schedule

Overnight shift: 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
