About the role

The Manufacturing Technician I position is a hands-on role focused on running secondary operations and assisting with machinery in the Extrusion Department. This role requires operating extrusion processes and supporting production orders. The ideal candidate will have previous extrusion experience or a strong passion for growing in this specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Operate workstations used in manufacturing processes, specifically focused around extrusion processes.
  • Promote a safe work environment, always adhering to safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment following 5S standards.
  • Communicate and collaborate with fellow employees, promoting a positive work culture.
  • Be proficient in all aspects of equipment setup for related secondary equipment, including extruders, mills, cut-to-length equipment, spoolers, and post-cure ovens.
  • Perform in-process visual inspections and dimensional inspections using dies, gauges, dimensional inspection systems, verniers, and micrometers.
  • Use a scale, caliper, comparator, and other measuring equipment accurately to ensure product meets specifications.
  • Monitor and maintain high-quality standards and production rates.
  • Understand and use work orders, blueprints, engineering specifications, SOPs, and process documentation for setup and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate written records following GDP and use the IQMS system for electronic documentation.
  • Perform documented quality checks at regular intervals and assist Quality Control with inspection duties.
  • Reliable, consistent, and punctual attendance is essential. This is not a remote position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Associate degree preferred or 2-4 years of specific experience in the medical device manufacturing industry.
  • Extrusion experience highly preferred.
  • 1-2+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in roles of increasing responsibility.
  • Knowledge of extrusion processes, with direct extrusion experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers and decimals.
  • Knowledge of ISO and FDA requirements. LEAN manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to frequently handle machine oils, lubricants, silicone, and latex.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use stairs, talk, and hear, with prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a workstation.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Ability to use a computer for simple data entry, order tracking, and communication.

Pay

$30.00 - $35.00 an hour. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.

Schedule

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
