Position Description

Title: Manufacturing Supervisor - 3rd Shift
Status: Exempt Salaried
Department: Operations

Principal Accountabilities

  • Plans, supervises, and directs daily production operations.
  • Avoids production problems such as material shortages, equipment malfunctions, and employee-related situations.
  • Exchanges information with other supervisors and internal/external parties on product flow and workforce needs.
  • Coaches, instructs, trains, orients, and motivates employees to achieve production and quality objectives in a safe and effective manner.
  • Initiates and manages departmental teams to achieve desired goals.
  • Primarily responsible for coaching and developing hourly employees utilizing the hourly certification system for production departments.
  • Participates in the selection and interview processes to fill hourly employee positions.
  • Applies appraisals of employee performance, including recommending promotions, transfers, and work assignments.
  • Initiates efforts to introduce cost reductions, work simplifications, and continuous improvements in methods or equipment.
  • Supervises and leads departmental safety and housekeeping practices and maintains a constant alert for hazardous conditions, including responding to emergency situations on an as-needed basis.
  • Edicates employees and enforces company rules and regulations, including but not limited to, safety rules and regulations, policies and procedures, production, and quality expectations.
  • Assists Human Resources in disciplinary procedures where necessary.
  • Leads and participates in company-sponsored activities such as training, site projects, and safety programs.
  • Primarily responsible for production-related administrative tasks such as payroll hours approval, reporting, and associated tasks.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
  • At least 2 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous leadership experience in a role such as Team Lead or supervisor strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional motivator, skilled in leading teams and conflict resolution skills
  • Lear Six Sigma Green or Black Belt strongly preferred
  • Ability to supervise fast-paced industrial environment
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP software, required
