Manufacturing Shift Supervisor

About the role

Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Leads and interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups, and may interact with other area supervisors, internal customers, and management. Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and leads production operations teams 24/7.
• Serves as a champion for safety culture.
• Coordinates prioritization of product manufacturing and equipment troubleshooting needs.
• Holds team of operators and shift technicians accountable to established metrics.
• Maintains equipment schedules, manages timecards, posts and fills overtime slots.
• Addresses personnel concerns and communicates with all employee levels at the plant.
• Provides solutions to complex and dynamic problems.
• Serves as incident commander for plant spill alarms.

Requirements

• High school education and 5+ years relevant work experience.
• 4-year degree preferred in engineering (chemical, materials, or mechanical).
• Effective communicator with peers, subordinates, and leadership.
• Capacity to learn complex manufacturing process flow and/or systems.
• Strong data analysis skills.
• Inquisitive problem-solving skills.
• High individual initiative and self-management.

Physical and Cognitive Demands

• Must be able to see, hear, speak, and move about a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Must be able to perceive heat and cold.
• Must maintain a significant level of cognitive function to solve complex problems.

Working Conditions

• 12 hours/day; rotating shift schedule.
• Office environment and manufacturing floor.
• Variable temperature environment.

Pay

The range for this position is $79,166.00 - $108,854.00 assuming full-time status. Starting pay depends on geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
