Manufacturing Shift Lead - Day Shift

About the role

The Shift Lead conducts training with operators and performs support tasks as instructed by the Shift Supervisor to sustain profitability in the manufacturing department.

This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing training and coaching of Press Operators in support of the Shift Supervisor.
• Assign and deliver batches of rubber to presses.
• Perform minor mold maintenance and cleanings to ensure machines function efficiently.
• Relieve operators as needed and potentially run the press for an entire shift.
• Assist in documenting machine downtime occurrences throughout the shift.
• Utilize a powered forklift to unload and store rubber in designated areas.
• Inventory rubber and assign it to necessary machines.
• Ensure press operators are entering output data properly.
• Ensure operators maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Fill in for the supervisor as needed.
• Perform in-process visual inspections of product approximately every hour per instructions.
• Transport completed lots from press to scale for final weigh count.
• Prepare and/or deliver finished product to the KONG warehouse and/or transfer truck.
• Weigh and “split” batches of rubber as necessary.
• Adhere to and enforce all safety procedures.
• Conduct interviews as requested.

Requirements

• Ability to effectively lead and train a team.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Must be a team player and a self-starter.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
• Must be able to obtain forklift operation certification.
• Willingness to help in a variety of areas.

Work Environment

• Frequent standing, walking, and climbing up and down ladders.
• Ability to bend at the waist several times per day.
• Use of fine motor skills to pull parts out of machines, sort, and trim parts.
• Work in and around machines that produce heat up to 375 degrees.
• Exposure to fumes, noxious odors, dusts, and gases that affect the respiratory system, eyes, or skin.
• Exposure to loud noises.
• Adhere to required PPE at all times.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Pay

$26 per hour
