Manufacturing-Retread Technician - Will Train

About the role

Boulevard Tire Center is looking for a Manufacturing Retread Technician for our DeLand, FL location. Forklift experience is a plus. We prefer candidates with at least 1 year of manufacturing and production experience, excellent attention to detail, flexibility, and a strong attendance and safety record. Willingness to learn and interest in advancement are welcomed, as training is available.

Responsibilities

• Inspect worn tires for faults, cracks, cuts, and nail holes to determine suitability for retreading.
• Operate a buffing machine to remove treads from tires to be retreaded, following specifications for depth and width removal.
• Measure diameter and cross section to determine correct tread width.
• Build semi-raw rubber treads onto buffed tire casings to prepare tires for vulcanization in recapping and retreading processes.
• Place tire in chamber and program correct curing temperature according to specification.
• Inspect tires to determine defects in curing (e.g., soft cures, ply separation, missed repairs).
• Trim and paint finished retreads.
• Repair tires found defective during the process.
• Make final inspection of repair, cut tread design with re-grooving iron, paint tire, and place in finished stock.
• Maintain a stock of tread rubber and repair materials, advising manager when replenishment is necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
