Job Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Development Engineer to join our prototype development team, responsible for developing manufacturing processes for new products, including process definition, tool design and development, and process qualification. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing processes related to new product development, including process definition and tool development, including designing and developing tooling and manufacturing fixtures using CAD software.
- Address tooling, manufacturability, and cost considerations during product development phases.
- Update tooling prints and technical documentation.
- Cook coordination tool and die conditioning activities with technicians.
- Support corrective design actions and tooling modifications as needed.
- Generate design for manufacturing summaries and coordinate design reviews of manufacturing tools.
Process Analysis & Documentation
- Initiate and lead process development activities for new programs, including team formation and meetings.
- Provide comprehensive Process Flow Charts beginning with process steps and ending with shipment to customers (i.e. mold flow, metal forming, etc.).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Interact with larger product development teams, including product management, project management, and product development engineering.
Job Requirements
- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing process development or related engineering roles.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Creo, SpaceClaim, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Knowledge of typical metal manufacturing processes and various material types.
- Experience with tooling design and process qualification.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with connector or precision component manufacturing.
- Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing tolerances.
- Experience with design review processes and cross-functional team collaboration.
- Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Prior knowledge in die stamping, molding, and assembly would be a plus.
- Experiences with manufacturing process simulation programs (FormingSuite, MoldFlow, Ansys, etc.).
Compensation
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $82,000 - $123,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
