About the role

Run grinding machines producing a quality product to blueprint specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate grinding machines: Install, change, and dress grinding wheels where applicable.
• Determine amount of stock to remove while working within tolerances.
• Gage inserts to insure proper dimensions.
• Scope inserts to verify visual characteristics.
• Pull samples and Record inspection results on route card.
• Place inserts into proper trays and move them to the next operation.
• Separate scrap from good inserts, document accurately.
• Scan correct production information.
• Operate other equipment as needed.
• Train new operators when required.
• Operators should be capable of setting up machines and trouble shoot basic to moderate problems.

Requirements

Must have High School diploma or GED.

Qualifications

Work Environment: Environment with controlled temperatures and dust collection systems. Safety glasses with side-shields required. Safety Shoes are required. Gloves, cut resistant gloves when necessary.

Physical Demands: Approximately eight (8) hours with scheduled break periods. Standing, intermittent walking, reaching, sitting, bending and lifting product weighing no more than thirty-three (33) pounds. Use of hands and fingers for fine motor tasks, to operate machinery, and handle tools safely. Visual acuity is necessary for reading gauges, inspecting products, and ensuring quality standards. Physical stamina and the ability to maintain focus during repetitive tasks are essential.
