About the role
Responsible for planning and directing crew members to maximize daily production, addressing personnel discrepancies, resolving conflicts, ensuring safety practices, monitoring machinery and environment, and adhering to GMP/HACCP procedures.
Responsibilities
- Plan and direct crew members to maximize daily production.
- Address personnel discrepancies and resolve conflicts.
- Issue praise or disciplinary action to employees fairly and consistently.
- Ensure employees follow safety practices and work in a safe manner.
- Monitor machinery and environment for unsafe practices or conditions.
- Ensure all employees comply with GMP/HACCP and PPE requirements.
- Follow company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Adhere to SQF requirements.
- Record production data accurately.
- Maintain quality standards and minimize scrap levels.
- Monitor and maximize production flow.
- Hold crew meetings and encourage team building.
- Train one crew member to be a backup group leader.
- Maintain employee Kronos, performance, and training records.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and develop action plans.
- Ensure scrap is accounted for accurately.
- Ensure printers are repaired properly and promptly.
- Monitor and minimize the use of support supplies.
- Communicate effectively with on-coming group leaders.
- Work with Quality Control to maximize quality and minimize downtime.
- Meet departmental goals of efficiency, minimal equipment failure, and scrap management.
- Ensure safety of all employees through active engagement in safety activities and clear communication of expectations.
- Support and investigate situations involving perceived safety risks.
- Complete responsibilities in accordance with organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- Lead risk assessment activities and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Complete incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper training and development of assigned employees.
- Set goals for organizational unit and ensure employees understand and work towards achieving goals.
- Motivate and coach employees through effective communication and performance feedback.
- Identify and coordinate additional training as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three to five years previous supervisory, quality, and/or dry offset printing experience.
