Manufacturing Intern
About the Role
Contribute to the overall profitability of the organization through downtime reduction activities utilizing tools and methods of the Toyota Production System. These activities include equipment improvements to increase productivity, labor reduction, process and material flow improvements, energy consumption reduction, and documentation/yokoten of processes using existing plant systems.
Responsibilities
- Implement equipment improvements to boost productivity
- Lead labor reduction activities
- Optimize process and material flow
- Reduce energy consumption
- Document and share (yokoten) processes using existing systems
- Define improvement ideas and present them to various levels of management
- Self-manage projects and time effectively
- Participate in Cross Functional Teams as assigned
- Support other departments as needed
- Perform all duties in conformance with safety and security standards
- Perform other reasonably related tasks as required by Supervisor or Management
Requirements
- Safety-minded approach
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, including Access
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (e.g., email)
- Proven ability to work across multiple departments to complete objectives
- Strong computer skills, including experience with computer programming
- General understanding of production processes and machinery
- Experience with surface and through-mount electronics
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience with parts and information flow in manufacturing systems
- Ability to interact well with coworkers
- Ability to understand, follow, and implement posted work rules and company procedures
- Ability to work weekends and holidays

Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Current student in a related technical field (preferred)
Work Environment
Exposure to dust, noise, oils, grease, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane, and solvents. Occasional heavy lifting required. Work involves hazardous machinery and conditions that could result in injury, including fatality, if safety measures are not followed. Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils.

Pay
$18.40 per hour
