About the role

The Manufacturing Integration Engineer acts as the central engineering link between design, manufacturing, quality, testing, commissioning, supply chain, and project teams on current and future rail-vehicle programs. Based in Hagerstown, MD, the role resolves production issues, supports design reviews, ensures accurate technical documentation, and keeps stakeholders informed of engineering changes.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve manufacturing and assembly issues by analyzing design intent, proposing practical solutions, and documenting corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, testing, commissioning, supply chain, and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in design reviews to confirm the build matches approved specifications.
  • Maintain clear, timely communication with stakeholders from initial design discussions through production support.
  • Verify that the built product conforms to the approved design and provide prompt feedback on any discrepancies.
  • Ensure design and system information is accurate, current, and accessible to relevant teams.
  • Follow company standard processes to promote consistency across projects and teams.
  • Support reliability, maintenance, and safety activities tied to rail-vehicle design and production.
  • Identify design improvements that enhance safety, reliability, manufacturability, and maintainability.
  • Work independently while staying aligned with broader project and engineering objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing rolling stock, rail vehicles, or other complex mobile equipment.
  • Ability to interpret design requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions.
  • Working knowledge of rail or transit vehicle operation.
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, identifying potential issues, and recommending design improvements.
  • Understanding of reliability, maintenance, and failure-analysis methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with international teams.
  • Clear technical writing and verbal communication in English.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Creo or AutoCAD (desired).
  • Professional engineering registration, certification, or progress toward registration (preferred).

Pay

$98,000 – $163,100 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset, ability level, internal equity, and location.
