About the Role
The Manufacturing Estimator provides basic support and takes ownership of simple estimating assignments within the manufacturing domain. This role requires technical and operational proficiency in solving moderately complex problems, contributing to the completion of projects and programs for Department of Defense (DoD) clients. The Manufacturing Estimator works with moderate supervision and may interface with internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare cost estimates for straightforward manufacturing projects or components, applying established estimating principles, theories, and concepts.
- Gather, analyze, and interpret data such as material costs, labor hours, and vendor quotes, utilizing historical data and industry benchmarks to inform estimates.
- Take ownership of assigned estimating tasks, ensuring timely and accurate completion, and contribute to the completion of project deliverables.
- Prepare and maintain detailed estimate documentation and supporting records, generating reports and summaries for review by senior staff and project managers.
- Interface with internal teams (engineering, procurement, project management) to gather information and clarify requirements; may interact with external vendors or customers to obtain necessary data.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and tools, recommending enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure all estimating activities comply with company policies, DoD regulations, and contract requirements, supporting audit and quality assurance activities as needed.
- Provide guidance to junior staff as appropriate and share knowledge and best practices within the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing, cost estimating, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated proficiency with cost estimating tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently on simple assignments and as part of a team.

- Experience in a DoD or government contracting environment.
- Familiarity with advanced cost estimating software.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and industry standards.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience interfacing with internal and/or external customers.
