About the role
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Estimating and Preconstruction Manager to lead all preconstruction efforts across assigned programs.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead all preconstruction efforts across assigned programs.
- Manage and mentor Estimators, Assistant Preconstruction Managers, and supporting PM/APM staff.
- Develop and execute pricing strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Lead subcontractor outreach, bid coordination, and pricing exercises.
- Prepare and review complete and accurate estimates, scopes of work, and bid packages.
- Perform price leveling and provide award recommendations.
- Conduct risk analysis and clearly communicate impacts to leadership.
- Lead value engineering efforts and develop project schedules and work plans.
- Track and manage design scope changes, escalating impacts to budget and schedule.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and design partners.
- Lead client presentations and ensure quality of all deliverables.
- Communicate progress, risks, and solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support contract negotiations, proposals, and business development efforts.
- Develop and improve estimating processes, systems, and tools.
- Support development and maintenance of estimating databases and reporting systems.
- Lead handoff of preconstruction information to internal teams including operations, design, supply chain, and finance.
- Support and, when needed, lead subcontractor and supplier buyout activities.
Qualifications
- 7-10+ years of experience in the construction industry.
- 3-5+ years of experience in preconstruction and estimating.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost structures.
- Experience leading teams and cross-functional initiatives.
- Proficiency in estimating, project management, and scheduling software.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Professional licenses or certifications are a plus.
