What To Expect

A Manufacturing Equipment Engineer in the Production Engineering team will operate, sustain, and improve some of the most automated manufacturing equipment in the world. The ideal candidate should have a strong aptitude to learn new skills.

What You'll Do

  • Sustain 24/7 production operations by responding to and resolving breakdowns quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime, collaborating with the Maintenance team.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to undertake improvement projects aimed at enhancing the factory's efficiency.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Lead equipment upgrades focusing on serviceability, reliability, and process capability.
  • Develop and improve equipment validation procedures, including calibration and qualification.
  • Act as an expert trainer on all machines in your assigned area, ensuring technicians maintain a high level of knowledge.
  • Provide hands-on support to the maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve extended downtime situations.
  • Create, implement, and improve Preventative and Predictive Maintenance documents and schedules, under the guidance of the Maintenance Planner.
  • Program ladder logic and Structured Text on multiple PLC controller platforms (primarily Beckhoff 70% and Siemens 30%). Program and teach industrial 6-axis robots (Fanuc).
  • Sequence complex, multi-station machinery for material pick-and-place, fastening, force assembly, and conveyance applications.
  • Participate in spare part analysis and inventory development, cost reduction, and improvement working with the Spares Department to RMA faulty components and communicate needs to vendors or other teams.

What You'll Bring

  • Education and Experience: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent experience. Experience with PLC programming (primarily Beckhoff and/or Siemens), troubleshooting, and configuration.
  • Skills: Good overall computer skills, particularly with Allen Bradley programming language. Experience commissioning and improving equipment, and a demonstrated track record of OEE improvement, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance activities.
  • Experience: 6+ years in a highly automated, high-volume manufacturing facility, with a strong background in Safety, Ergonomics, Change Point Management, Spare Parts Management, and Total Productive Maintenance.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, aptitude for learning systems quickly, and ability to utilize structured problem-solving techniques like Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W), or Eight Disciplines (8D). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Technical Skills: Strong Mechanical aptitude, experience dealing with precision equipment for calibration and equipment alignment, good fundamental understanding of mechanical processes such as bending, twisting, and general machining. Welding experience is a plus.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within a manufacturing and engineering organization, as well as cross-functional teams.
  • Work Schedule: Willingness to perform shift work (weekends) and overtime as required.
