Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead

Responsibilities

• Provide technical input on various projects or serve as the lead Manufacturing Engineer on the Integrated Product Team (IPT), including tooling/fixture design, manufacturing work instruction development, and shop floor support.
• Develop and maintain internal cross-functional relationships.
• Work with the Optical Fabrication and Assembly Team Leads to communicate program schedule and resource allocation discussions.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the Optical Fabrication and Assembly Teams regarding manufacturing processes and project timelines.
• Supervise a medium-sized team of Optical Fabrication Engineers.
• Perform standard supervisory tasks for a medium-sized team of Engineers, including HR, payroll, time keeping, and other workplace tasks.
• Prepare and present ideas to Product/Program or Functional Leadership.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree (Mechanical, Optical, Materials Science, or Manufacturing).
• 7 years of full time work experience minimum, or 5 years experience directly related to the fabrication of optics.
• Background in the Aerospace or Defense industry with a focus on low-volume, high value production.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes involving CNC, grinding, and polishing.
• Skilled CAD and PLM user (PTC Creo Parametric and Windchill preferred).
• ERP experience (SAP preferred).
• Experienced in writing work orders and procedures for product fabrication and assembly.
• Comfortable preparing and presenting ideas to Product/Program or Functional Leadership.
• Previous experience leading a team in a professional environment.
