Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
- Provide guidance regarding design for manufacturability (DFM / DFA reviews & feedback to design)
- Assess assembly process feasibility and conduct BOM review & manufacturing alignment
- Interpret drawings and specifications, review and implement engineering change orders (ECOs), and support prototype & pre-production builds
- Develop requirements for special assembly machines, equipment, and tooling, and control torque, adhesive, and critical process parameters
- Develop operator training materials and drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cost reduction and defect reduction
- Prepare manufacturing transfer packages, including standardized work instructions, for off-site Asia manufacturing facilities, and manage tooling & fixture documentation and BOM & configuration control
- Assist with site launch readiness assessments, provide on-site support during launches, and deliver operator & technician training
- Communicate ECO changes and manage post-launch issue support & sustaining documentation
- Implement process improvements focused on defect reduction, cost reduction, and assembly optimization using SPC data
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (master’s degree often preferred)
- Experience: Minimum of five years’ applicable experience in the production and testing of electromechanical assemblies
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of quality control fundamentals like GD&T, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies
- Skills/Technical Requirements: Experience with workflow processes in the fabrication, assembly, and testing of electromechanical systems and components; intimate working knowledge of statistical process control methods; knowledge of design for manufacturability principles; computer literacy; excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
