About the Role

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads the Manufacturing Engineering department, its personnel, priorities, procedures, projects, and documentation, and provides management oversight for Facilities and Equipment Maintenance. A central part of the role is coordinating and completing customer and program documentation by preparing portions directly, compiling technical inputs from engineers and other functions, and ensuring complete, controlled documentation is ready for Program Management, Quality, Design Engineering, and other customer-facing functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, coach, and establish priorities for the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Work with Design Engineering and Quality to review customer specifications, drawings, standards, and program requirements to identify Manufacturing Engineering requirements, technical responsibilities, required documentation, and timing.
  • Lead manufacturing process and equipment development, coordinating Manufacturing Engineers, Automation Engineers, Technicians, Quality, Design Engineering, Production, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers from selection through installation, commissioning, and validation.
  • Prepare, compile, revise, and control customer-required and departmental Manufacturing Engineering documentation—managing due dates, technical inputs from engineers, revisions, and completeness—so compliant documentation is ready for customer submissions and program milestones.
  • Coordinate prototype builds, process validations, capability studies, capacity reviews, run-at-rate activities, production launches, and other program milestones.
  • Maintain Manufacturing Engineering process documentation, customer forms, reports, and technical records so they remain current and aligned with the approved manufacturing process.
  • Ensure applicable plant, process, customer, and equipment safety requirements are incorporated into process and equipment development.
  • Provide management oversight for Facilities and Equipment Maintenance, including priorities, preventive and predictive maintenance effectiveness, contractor support, and escalation of equipment or facility issues.

Directly supervises the Manufacturing Engineering team, consisting of Manufacturing Engineers, Automation Engineers, Manufacturing Engineering Technicians, Facilities and Equipment Maintenance personnel, and other assigned personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; minimum 10 years of related manufacturing engineering, process development, program management, maintenance/facilities oversight, or manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, coaching, and coordinating technical team members.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and customer-documentation requirements simultaneously.
  • Ability to review and interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, technical requirements, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Work Instructions, capacity reporting, capability studies, process validation, and run-at-rate activities.
  • Fundamental knowledge of manufacturing process development, equipment and automation systems, tooling and fixtures, preventive and predictive maintenance, and safety and customer compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and common document-control or project-tracking tools.
