About The Role The Manufacturing Team at Hermeus are the boots on the ground. We have a vast array of experiences ranging from welding, additive, tube bending, machining, integration, and avionics. We are a lean team who are responsible for building a vehicle that will fly. We provide crucial design feedback to our engineering team and can rapidly iterate on design and assembly. Spring: Around 16 weeks (January - April) Summer: Around 12 weeks (May - August) Responsibilities Support manufacturing and process improvement projects focused on safety, quality, reliability, and efficiencyPartner with engineers and technicians to support hardware build, integration, and production activitiesAssist with root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and resolution of manufacturing issuesHelp evaluate designs for manufacturability, testability, and production readinessSupport development and improvement of tooling, assembly processes, and test proceduresContribute to continuous improvement efforts that reduce build time, improve quality, and eliminate wasteAssist with troubleshooting non-conforming hardware and documenting findingsCreate and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, test procedures, BOMs, and standard operating proceduresCollaborate with cross-functional teams to support the transition of hardware from development into production Requirements Must be currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program).Hands-on experience designing, building, testing, or manufacturing hardware through internships, coursework, research, competition teams, or personal projectsStrong understanding of engineering first principles and interest in vehicle hardwareFamiliarity with manufacturing, assembly, testing, CAD, technical drawings, or GD&TDemonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional teamsStrong written and verbal communication skillsEnthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus’s missionGPA of 3.0 or above $25 - $33 an hour The hourly rate listed for this internship is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on degree level.
