About the role
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at LG Energy Solution, you will assist and support an Engineer in one of the three major battery-manufacturing departments. Learning objectives include understanding the general battery production process, battery materials (strength and composition), and the practical application of locking mechanisms and fasteners.
Responsibilities
- Work with engineers and operators to troubleshoot machines on the production floor to ensure highest yield and Optimal Equipment Efficiency.
- Interface with team members in the plant and office, as well as external suppliers and contractors.
- Evaluate existing procedures and production methods for opportunities to improve quality and efficiency.
- Improve production processes by creating standard operating procedures and ensuring their correct implementation on the floor.
- Develop procedures, forms, checklists, and schedules to support process development and improvement.
- Research new technologies, equipment, and supplies to help improve operations.
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (Junior or Senior standing).
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, and presentation.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to new tasks and projects.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated teamwork and effectiveness in accomplishing goals.
- Korean-English bilingual strongly preferred.
- Must be able to commute and work at the Lansing, MI facility with a valid driver’s license and transportation.
