PURPOSE
The Specialist, Welding (BB/BR Roof) is responsible for supporting and improving production processes within an automotive manufacturing environment. This role serves as the technical expert for the assigned production area, supporting new model launches, tooling implementation, process optimization, and daily production activities while ensuring safety, quality, cost, and productivity targets are achieved.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the technical expert for the assigned production area during new model and tooling launches.
- Cookordinate and lead project activities including process design, supplier coordination, tooling implementation, and production readiness.
- Analyze and continuously improve safety, quality, productivity, cost, and process efficiency within the assigned area.
- Support and resolve daily production and manufacturing issues through technical problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Participate in cross-functional teams and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and training to production and maintenance teams.
- Monitor new technologies and recommend process or equipment improvements where applicable.
- Prepare and present project updates, technical reports, and performance analyses to management.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and operational management systems and applicable regulations.
- Support additional engineering, operational, and on-call responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- 0–10 years of relevant job-related experience preferred.
- 3–10 years of automotive assembly or manufacturing experience desired.
- Experience in welding, hemming, sheet metal, or automotive production processes preferred.
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing and welding processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to support production operations and manage multiple technical projects.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Robotic welding experience.
- Hemming experience.
- Jigs and fixture experience.
- Tool and die training or experience.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, off-shift support, and on-call assignments when required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE
- Location: Montgomery
- Schedule: Day shift, 40h/w, weekend as required
- Travel: Domestic and occasional international travel may be required
- Overtime: as required
- Assignment Start: ASAP
