Manufacturing Engineer Technician (MET)
Position Summary
FIVES LANDIS CORP is actively seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Technician (MET) to join its team in Hagerstown, Maryland. The position is available at Fives Landis Corp, which is the High Precision Machines Division of FIVES. The division specializes in designing and supplying machines for various markets including Automotive, Aerospace, Defense, Rail, Shipbuilding, Energy, Space, etc. With approximately 2,000 employees worldwide, the division operates in 20 locations across Asia, Europe, and North America.
About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer Technician (MET) will evaluate mechanical, electrical, and control system set-up and start-up of CNC grinding machines and automated manufacturing equipment. They will inspect and validate machinery performance against engineering and customer specifications, troubleshoot and repair automation systems, conduct machine vibration and noise analysis, lead and direct final system testing, machine alignment, calibration, and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).
Responsibilities
- Evaluate mechanical, electrical, and control system set-up and start-up of CNC grinding machines and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Inspect and validate machinery performance against engineering and customer specifications, focusing on reliability, precision, and process optimization.
- Troubleshoot and repair automation systems, including PLCs, servo drives, HMIs, and embedded control systems.
- Conduct machine vibration and noise analysis, utilizing diagnostic instrumentation and reporting software.
- Load, configure, and verify machine control software for custom grinding cycles, validating I/O functionality and optimizing software logic.
- Perform machine capability studies and analyze manufacturing data to ensure compliance with customer tolerances and quality standards.
- Train customers and internal teams on machine operation, safety procedures, and diagnostic best practices.
Requirements
- A minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
- An Associate’s degree in manufacturing technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (preferred).
- Experience with machine tool assembly, industrial automation, or manufacturing engineering support (required).
- A strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems, PLC programming, and CNC operations.

Pay
Pay Range: $25 – $32 per hour plus Overtime (rate offer commensurate with experience)
