Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer Technician to join our steel fabrication and assembly team. This provides hands-on technical support to Manufacturing Engineering department. This position assists with the implementation, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, fixtures, automation, and production systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Manufacturing Engineers with the development, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoot production equipment, tooling, fixtures, automation, and process issues.
- Perform measurements, inspections, testing, data collection, and process studies.
- Build, modify, and validate fixtures, tooling, prototypes, and production aids.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and automated systems.
- Support robotic and automated manufacturing systems, including basic programming, setup, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, equipment documentation, and engineering records.
- Assist with process capability studies, time studies, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement activities.
- Support engineering trials, prototype builds, first-article production, and process validation.
- Assist with CAD modifications and creation of basic engineering drawings, layouts, and manufacturing documentation.
- Maintain engineering tools, test equipment, fixtures, and prototype equipment.
- Provide hands-on support during equipment and process launches.
- Verify that implemented engineering changes are functioning as intended and properly documented.
- Collect and analyze production data to support engineering decisions.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 6S, standard work, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, automation, maintenance, or a related technical environment.
- Hands on tooling fabrication and implementation.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Revit).
- Strong analytical skills, problem solving, and mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency with common measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Experience collecting and logging manufacturing data.
Preferred Skills
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Automation, or related field.
- Experience with manufacturing process improvement or Lean methodologies.
- Formal robotic training.
- CNC operation and skills.
- Experience in a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Welding experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
