About the role
The Manufacturing Engineer II – Urethane Process Support position is a mid-level engineering role on the Manufacturing Engineering Team. This position supports Globe’s urethane casting efforts, troubleshooting casting issues, identifying process improvements, and ensuring adherence to all related documentation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact (POC) on the Manufacturing Engineering Team for both urethane hand casting and processor casting.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with urethane casting using various methods.
- Lead and participate in CAPA (Corrective and Preventative Action) efforts affecting casting processes.
- Evaluate current manufacturing processes to identify variables influencing inefficiencies, non-conformances, and overall process performance.
- Develop and implement controls to maintain an effective and consistent manufacturing process across different production areas.
- Seek improvements to reduce costs and utilize process improvement methodologies like DMAIC, PDCA, 8D, and PDSA.
- Support the manufacturing floor by maintaining a safe and efficient workplace, contributing to the Globe Core Values of Safety, Quality, Customer Service, Teamwork, Innovation, and Integrity.
- Periodically review and improve processes, procedures, and work instructions.
- Lead improvement projects aimed at enhancing accuracy and throughput of quality inspections.
- Communicate with sales, production planning, finance, maintenance, and customers to understand contract requirements and ensure timely and efficient service.
- Maintain a data-driven mindset to approach problems quantitatively.
Qualifications
- BS in engineering with 3-5 years of related work experience in manufacturing and/or project management.
- Extensive experience in process engineering, including work instruction generation, process development, and diagrams, and process flow.
- Previous work experience with elastomers, urethane casting, machining, thermoplastics, or epoxy resins.
- Knowledge of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S manufacturing practices.
- Able to maintain a data-driven mindset to approach problems quantitatively.
- Proficient in basic MS Excel and a strong desire to build upon current skills.
- Experience in data analytics and data analytics software (such as Minitab) is desired but not required.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to seeking out new projects and solutions.
- Task-oriented with the ability to organize workload into a project management framework, breaking down tasks into clear outlines and milestones.
- Strong communicator with the ability to clearly define needs and questions, discussing problems and issues respectfully to seek solutions.
- Root cause mindset with a constant drive to uncover and resolve systemic problems.
- Action-focused with a willingness to take the next step without needing constant oversight.
Skills
- SolidWorks or other 3-D design software.
- Excellent communication skills, able to interact with diverse groups.
- Ability to understand and work with chemical processing equipment and troubleshoot issues with material flow, density, pressure, and temperature.
- Experience with equipment gauges such as flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature probes, load cells, level monitoring equipment, etc.
- Knowledge of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
- Experience in specifying and onboarding new equipment.
- Experience in data analytics and data analytics software (such as Minitab) is desired but not required.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to seeking out new projects and solutions.

Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to walk through a large manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Majority of work is performed in a manufacturing environment with noise levels within safety limits and acceptable lighting and temperature conditions.
- Minimal travel may be required on a rare occasion.
