Primary Summary
Under general supervision, the Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining methods, operation sequences, and processes in manufacturing. Works with the engineering department to coordinate the release of new products. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, and develop of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
- Perform analysis and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Develop new and update old production processes with proper documentation and approvals.
- Interfaces and coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
- Interfaces and coordinates with vendors/customers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Interfaces and coordinates with sales, planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results.
- Write process control and quality procedures.
- Review manufacturing drawings to identify improvements.
- Participate on teams using quality control tools such as 8D, 5S, Kaizen, Lean, Six-Sigma (DMAIC), VSM, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to reduce process variation and process improvement evaluation.
- Implement and process new part structures and sequencing methods to be routed through applicable shops &/or departments.
- Develop (BOO) bill of operations, (BOM) bill of materials, and parts cost.
- Process tool design (fixtures) with use of computer assisted design applications and programs.
- Identify and troubleshoot tools in assembly.
- Establish and maintain manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
- Investigate manufacturing problems and implement root cause correction. May be required to travel to customer facilities and other affiliates as required.

Essential Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, minimum 4+ years related experience required and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Green Belt certified highly desired.
- Strong drafting skills (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD), excellent problem solving skills and ability to work within a team.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement, Aerospace manufacturing experience highly desired.
