Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes or process improvements by gathering KPI and metric data for production processes, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, conferring with equipment vendors, and soliciting observations from manufacturing technicians.
  • Trains and guides manufacturing technicians in process improvements and requirements.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout, and assisting QA and Purchasing with qualifying new vendors.
  • Investigates root cause of nonconformances to design or process specifications, develops and implements corrective actions.
  • Responsible for drafting production process instructions, qualification documents, and other documents required for assigned production line, and for maintaining the BOMs, Routes, and other D365 engineering controlled settings for assigned production lines.
  • Affirms product and process quality by designing testing methods for testing finished product, raw material, and process capabilities, and establishing manufacturing standards for manufacturing processes.
  • Performs Risk Analysis and Mitigation including identifying critical risks and mitigating them.
  • Drafts and executes verifications and validations for production processes and equipment.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides technical information support by answering questions and technical support be fulfilling requests for assistance.
  • Provides hands on technical support for manufacturing process and equipment, as required.
  • Project management including scoping, planning, and executing projects, including coordinating activities and task monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Independently uses first-principles thinking. Shows creative problem solving when presented with challenges but may require occasional help.
  • Shows initiative in pursuing assigned tasks and requires no prompting to complete tasks.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and assembly principles.
  • Capable of working with external suppliers as needed to resolve in-house problems (e.g., supplier quality issues).
  • Proficient problem solver familiar with root cause analysis techniques (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.) and investigation including determining, analyzing, or researching the root cause of an identified problem.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated willingness to support projects or production lines during challenging schedules.
  • 5 plus years technical experience in manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related Engineering Discipline including Industrial, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering required.
  • Proficient in change management systems (ECO processes), and document control.
  • Proficient in using data analysis programs and Microsoft Suite, experience with VBA, C++, G-CODE, JavaScript, or similar programming preferred.
  • 1 plus year Experience using CAD (computer-aided design) software.
  • Experience with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi) and familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with robotics, automated assembly equipment, or CNC machinery, including setup, programming, and troubleshooting, preferred.
