Manufacturing Engineer I NC - 1st Shift

PCB Piezotronics, Inc. manufactures sensors used by design engineers and predictive maintenance professionals to test and measure vibration, pressure, force, acoustics, load, and shock for test, measurement, monitoring, and control requirements. Our sensors support testing in aerospace and defense, automotive, transportation, civil engineering, and general R&D industries. About the role

As a Manufacturing Engineer I, you will utilize your education, experience, and technical knowledge to provide support and training related to assembly methods, tests, procedures, and more.

Responsibilities

• Work with experienced engineers and technicians to learn basic sensor technology, manufacturing processes, test methods, departmental procedures, and policies.
• Support and train others on assembly methods, test procedures, ISO 9001 documentation, production equipment, and company policies/procedures.
• Use PCB's 3-D modeling software to modify designs, written procedures, Bills of Materials, and routers to improve manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with design engineers and production technicians to facilitate the timely transfer of new products to production, including designing fixtures, writing procedures, and sharing "lessons learned" from current products.
• Conduct continuous improvement projects on quality or cost-related manufacturing issues.
• Utilize test equipment to test products and maintain knowledge of applicable calibration methods.
• Learn to distinguish special cause failures vs. common cause failures and categorize measurement system failures (Type I vs. Type II).
• Prioritize production issues using the Pareto principle to address the most critical issues first.
• Conduct failure analyses of rejects from manufacturing or customers.
• Apply statistical process control techniques and error-proofing hierarchy to implement irreversible Corrective and Preventative Actions.
• Research, analyze, and study existing products, systems, subsystems, test equipment, and processes to improve performance, reliability, quality, and cost.
• Work with engineers and production technicians to improve production yield, reduce scrap, and solve product-related problems.
• Learn how to test and calibrate products and gain experience with test equipment and processes.
• Perform other related duties as required for the efficient operation of the Engineering Department and PCB.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering or 5 years of equivalent experience.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office software and 3-D modeling software.
• Familiarity with LEAN Design of Experiments, Shainin techniques, and error-proofing.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident/green card required due to compliance with U.S. Export Control laws (International Traffic in Arms Regulations).
• Travel as needed.

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
