About the role
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission.
- Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
- Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., precision machining, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
- Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.
- Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.
- Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
- Apply emerging AI technologies alongside traditional manufacturing engineering tools to optimize processes, reduce cycle times, and improve first-time quality.
- Team Focus & Domain Expertise: The Engines manufacturing team provides propulsion solutions for many internal programs and external customers. The Huntsville Engine Factory is responsible for rate production of our BE-4 and BE-3U engines which power the New Glenn vehicle. The factory leverages world-class machining assets and advance fabrication equipment to build and test engines that perform reliably in the most challenging environments. Our team takes pride in continuously improving cost, increasing throughput, and reducing cycle time to lower the cost of access to space.
