About the role

The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive the success of new and ongoing projects. This role involves overseeing manufacturing processes and documentation to uphold efficiency, ensure adherence to timelines and budgetary constraints, and facilitate seamless procurement of parts and raw materials. The engineer will ensure clarity and comprehensibility of all shop floor personnel documentation, enabling flawless fabrication and assembly completion. This on-site position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design, production, and quality assurance teams to devise and execute manufacturing processes aligned with quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
  • Innovate, design, and implement manufacturing methodologies and systems, including process flow, assembly techniques, and production fixtures/tools.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing methods to identify opportunities for cycle time reduction, cost efficiency, and waste minimization.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost assessments, risk evaluations, and provide information to support decision-making related to manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Participate in the selection and procurement of machinery, equipment, and materials to support manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance to production teams, assisting in issue resolution, problem-solving, and efficiency optimization.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards across all manufacturing activities.
  • Supervise and address daily technical challenges associated with assigned projects.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in manufacturing engineering.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience using SolidWorks with the ability to develop manufacturing drawings in accordance with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards.
  • Proficient in tooling and system design with demonstrated experience.
  • Proven track record in a manufacturing engineering capacity, ideally within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, techniques, and methodologies, including machining, assembly, and fabrication.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a knack for dissecting complex technical challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement and product excellence.
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks effectively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with engineering standards and their effective application.
  • Must be a US citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of manufacturing tools and procedures.
  • Proficient in utilizing Costpoint with extensive knowledge and hands-on experience.
  • Department of Defense (DoD) related experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing or walking for extended periods, especially when conducting manufacturing floor inspections or troubleshooting production issues.
  • Lifting and carrying equipment or materials weighing up to twenty (20) pounds.
  • Manipulating tools, machinery controls, or small components with precision and dexterity.
  • Working in environments that may include exposure to noise, vibrations, chemicals, or additional hazards, requiring adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Climbing stairs or ladders to access elevated areas within the manufacturing facility.
  • Operating and maintaining machinery and/or equipment, which may involve manual adjustments or repairs.
  • Occasionally bending, stooping, or reaching to access equipment, materials, or workstations.
  • Visual acuity and color vision to inspect parts, read schematics or blueprints, and identify defects or abnormalities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, or external stakeholders, which may involve speaking, active listening, and written communication.

Work Environment

The work environment includes an office setting with minimal noise, complemented by occasional verification of processes on the manufacturing floor. Reasonable accommodations may be arranged to facilitate individuals with disabilities in executing essential functions.
