We’re seeking a Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer to support the AARGM program. The AGM-88E Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile is a supersonic, air-launched tactical missile system designed to rapidly engage land- and sea-based air-defense threats, as well as striking time-sensitive targets. This position is full-time, on-site in Northridge, CA; no remote or telework arrangements are available.

About the Role

This individual will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, IPT Lead, Quality Engineer, Design Engineering, and Operations to ensure producibility meets program targets, including yield and continuous improvement opportunities. The role supports the AARGM/ER/Sustainment program and requires an interim Secret clearance.

Travel is required, up to 10% of the time. No relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities

• Develop new and improve existing manufacturing processes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and affordability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new methods, applications, and processes supporting current and future manufacturing needs.
• Develop and optimize process parameters; revise process documentation and manufacturing work instructions.
• Work with vendors to support assembly transitions.
• Ensure methods and techniques used to build products are mistake-proof, balanced, and tailored to takt time.
• Participate in non-conforming (NC) dispositions and Corrective Action Reviews (CARs), respecting a 5-day maximum cycle time. Use tools such as 5 Whys and 8D to analyze and determine root causes of production problems.
• Participate in Make/Buy and Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings.
• Assist the production floor in optimizing process monitoring for yield, cost, and process stability and capability.
• Resolve technical issues with production floor personnel; recommend and implement quality improvements based on efficiency and affordability metrics.
• Provide training and guidance to assemblers, inspectors, and technicians.
• Support factory maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and repair of process equipment.
• Serve as the technical conscience of the assigned production program.
• Provide cycle time information to planners for scheduling; direct floor and workstation layouts, production tooling, and equipment for efficiency.
• Guide continuous improvement activities; respond to kaizens impacting assembly instructions.
• Conduct capacity studies; maintain Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs).
• Support the production team to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Recommend product design improvements for advanced microelectronics products.
• Document state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers.
• Participate in design producibility reviews for new products; ensure implemented processes achieve design intent.

Requirements

Level 1:

• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience using Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) software for routings of manufacturing orders.
• Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) activity, including collaborating with cross-functional teams to process hardware.
• Able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance.

Level 2:

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of manufacturing and/or engineering experience, or 6 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies (1–2 years minimum).
• Proficiency with MS Office software applications.
• Experience using Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) software for routings of manufacturing orders.
• Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) activity, including collaborating with cross-functional teams to process hardware.
• Able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance.

Pay

Primary level salary range: $69,400 – $104,000. Secondary level salary range: $83,400 – $125,200. The above ranges represent general guidelines; actual offers consider scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
