About the Role
As a Pallet Repair Reman, you’ll build wooden pallets from recycled materials, deconstructed pallets, and/or lumber. You may also repair pallets by taking damaged pallets sent from customers and returning them to service-ready condition before consolidating and shipping them back. Sustainability is one of our organization’s top goals, making this role vital to our success.
Responsibilities
- Utilize appropriate tools and methods to return damaged pallets to service-ready condition
- Communicate effectively with Production Supervisors, Assistant Plant Manager, and Plant Manager
- Examine products after repairing to verify conformance to quality standards
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment that meets 48forty’s standards
- Build and repair the given number of pallets, once training is complete
- Work without constant supervision to achieve production quotas in the repair area, safely
- Stack pallets or materials correctly, following inventory control instructions
- Check loads to ensure they are secure
Requirements
- High school degree or GED required
- Completion of a craft apprenticeship preferred
- Quick hands, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
- Observance of all safety rules and regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations where standardized requirements exist
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Demonstrated experience safely operating air-driven, electric, pneumatic, and manual woodworking tools
- Previous experience in welding, lumbering, construction, carpentry, or roofing is strongly preferred
Work Environment
- Ability to work in extreme conditions, including elements, heat, cold, and air particulate
- Repetitively lift up to 75 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts of varying lengths
- Noise level in the work environment depends on location
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (eye protection, ear protection is mandatory at several locations, safety shoes)
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and color vision
- Must have a good sense of balance and good eye-hand-foot coordination
Pay
Starting from USD $18.50/hour plus $0.31 shift differential.
Schedule
Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM
