About the role
As a manufacturing associate, you will play a valuable role within the lab department testing and inspecting material to confirm the quality of our product before shipping to the client. You will prepare material for lab inspections and test these materials using saws, lathes, and grinders by interpreting plans, specifications, or drawings.
A successful associate will set up and operate machines safely within standard operating procedures, detect faulty equipment or defective material, and prepare etching solutions for product inspection. You will demonstrate independence, motivation, effective teamwork, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform minor machine maintenance
- Mark dimensions and use correct measuring tools to cut samples
- Operate fork trucks and cranes
- Adhere to all safety policies, practices, and procedures
- Use measuring devices like gauges, meters, and calipers
- Apply knowledge of machining operations and material characteristics
- Request cutbacks and resample material with unacceptable structure
- Refer questionable structures to the quality control metallurgist
- Maintain macro inspection and inventory reports in established forms and computer systems
- Receive acid for bulk and tanks, inspect tanks, and check acid strengths to ensure proper etching
- Measure and mix acids for etching
- Evaluate grain size in the etched condition and assess the structure of nickel and steel alloys per lab instructions and specifications
- Take photo micrographs of prepared micro and micro plate samples
- Assist in routine laboratory operations and train new employees
- Lead and participate in standard work events, reports, and meetings
- Learn and implement ATBS tools (VSM, Set-up and reduction, etc.)
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- At least one (1) year of manufacturing experience (preferred)
