About the role
You’ll get to build wooden pallets from recycled materials, deconstructed pallets and/or lumber. You may also repair pallets by taking damaged pallets sent from our customers and return them to service-ready condition, before consolidating and shipping them back to the customer. As sustainability is one of our organization’s top goals, this role is vital to our success!
Responsibilities
- Utilize appropriate tools and methods to return damaged pallets to service-ready condition
- Communicate effectively with Production Supervisors, Assistant Plant Manager, and Plant Manager
- Examine products after repairing to verify conformance to quality standards
- Maintain a clean & safe working environment that meets 48forty’s standards
- Build the given number of pallets, once training is complete
- Repair the given number of pallets, once training is complete
- Expected to be able to work without constant supervision to achieve production quotas in the repair area, safely
- Stack pallets or materials in the correct manner, following inventory control instructions
- Check loads to make sure they are secure
Qualifications
- A high school degree or GED
- Completion of a craft apprenticeship preferred
- Quick hands, attention to detail, commitment to quality
- Observance of all safety rules and regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardized requirements exist
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Demonstrated experience safely operating air-driven, electric, pneumatic, and manual woodworking tools
- Previous experience in welding, lumbering, construction, carpentry, or roofing is strongly preferred
Skills
- Ability to work in extreme conditions to include, but not limited to, elements, heat, cold, and air particulate
- Repetitively lift up to 75 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts of varying lengths in time
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (eye protection, ear protection is mandatory at several locations, safety shoes)
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision
- Must have a good sense of balance & good eye-hand-foot coordination

Pay
Hourly Pay $15.16/hr. During Training then Piece rate (AVG $21.00/hr. - $31.00/hr.)
Schedule
Shift(s) 1st Shift Monday- Friday 700am - 400pm
