About the role
Louis Allis is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to join our team in a clean, team-oriented shop. You'll machine and repair components used in industrial electric motors and mechanical assemblies. Electric motor experience is a plus, but not required—we can teach the motor-specific work to an experienced machinist.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual lathes, horizontal mills, vertical mills, drill presses, and other machine tools
- Manufacture and repair precision parts from drawings, blueprints, and samples
- Hold close tolerances and verify your work using appropriate measuring equipment
- Turn and undercut electric motor commutators
- Use saws, grinders, sanders, files, and other shop equipment as needed
- Inspect your work and maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail
- Perform basic machine lubrication and maintenance
- Work alongside other experienced machinists and members of our motor repair team
- Maintain a safe, organized work area
Requirements
- 2+ years of machining/shop experience
- Experience setting up and operating manual machine tools
- Ability to read and machine parts from drawings and blueprints
- Ability to work accurately to close tolerances
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Electric motor repair or motor-shop experience is a plus
- Trade school training is a plus
- Ability to safely handle and secure heavy components
- Commitment to safe work practices

1st shift - Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm (Full-Time)
