Pay

This position offers an hourly wage starting at $36-42/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, erect, install, and maintain shop machinery
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerance using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and veneer calipers
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, machines and materials onto machines
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders
  • Measure, examine and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments
  • Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on shop equipment
  • Continued education and training to meet the needs of an evolving service industry
  • Capable of working independently with little to no supervision
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, complying with company and industry safety regulations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Technical diploma in related area of study, such as Precision Machining, preferred
  • 5+ years of manual machining experience
  • Experience using precision measuring tools and equipment
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals
  • Proficiency with rotating equipment manufacturing or repair is highly preferred
  • Industrial shop environment with exposure to noise, heavy equipment, and cutting fluids
  • Requires standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and manual dexterity
  • Availability to work shifts outside of normal work schedule, including required OT on weekends and holidays
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office; Outlook, Excel and Word) and ability to operate windows-based programs from a tablet, computer, or smartphone
